Well, we are anchored just outside the port of Suez. Ships go through the canal one at a time, in convoys of about 12-15 vessels. In order to accommodate two-way traffic, going southbound from the Mediterranean and northbound from the Red Sea, there are bypass areas and lakes along the way, where opposite-direction convoys can pass each other. Apparently a convoy from the Mediterranean was delayed in its start down the canal due to weather, which means northbound convoys (like us) have no choice but to wait. So it's looking dim that we will have much, if any, progress into the canal before dark. Very disappointing. Also puts our arrival at Ashdod in jeopardy, which in turn has a domino effect on the rest of our schedule. Disappointing, but it is what it is. A few other ships wait alongside of us, below.
