On our shore visit to Padang, rendang daging was on the menu. When we did a New Zealand/Australia cruise a few years back, we disembarked in Denpasar, Indonesia, and stayed at a lovely resort. I think that was when I discovered rendang - cubed beef cooked for 4-5 hours, soaking up several pounds ( ! ) of spices and lots of coconut milk. If my personal taste buds could vote for the “Best Dish in The Known Universe”, it would be a tie between rendang and the perfect bite of salmon sushi.
